This kit to make a Japanese Rice Pouch includes Colette Moscrop hand screen printed fabric, 3 linen threads, cotton wadding (batting) and the a printed booklet of KZ Stevens' Japanese Rice Pouch pattern.

The pattern gives you 3 size options and this kit allows enough fabric to complete the largest version of the pouch.

The pouch opens wide and makes an ideal project bag for your sewing or knitting.

Full instructions are in the booklet and I've enclosed some tips for making the pouch with a cotton batting, this gives the pouch extra stability and a lovely texture once you've added your decorative stitches. Click here for more tips on adding stitches to your work.

The fabrics enclosed will be a co-ordinated selection of prints and colours, you'll receive all 3 base cloths, linen, linen / cotton blend and cotton.
Each pack will be slightly different so your pouch will be unique to you.

Lining and cord available separately.

You will need to provide:
2 - 2.5m of cord or ribbon
110cm x 26cm lining (44" x 10.5")
a sewing machine to piece together your panels
needles for hand embroidery
sewing scissors
snippets of extra fabrics to add as patches (optional)

The fabrics are hand screen printed in my London studio.

    - printed with water based eco friendly inks
    - heat set and fully washable at 30 degrees.

I'd recommend washing your finished pouch by hand and allowing to dry naturally. Avoid wringing as this will crease the linen, wrap in a towel and gently squeeze excess water out.

Small imperfections may be present, these will be minor and part of the beauty of buying handprinted fabrics.

Some shrinkage will occur after washing, this is a feature of natural fibres, please allow for this or prewash before using in your projects.
